Just a reminder: you cannot learn game design in any sort of meaningful way if your field of analysis is just "the video games that have come out in my lifetime." That approach will, at best, just produce endless repetition of the same basic game, ad infinitum.

22 Years ago Super Mario 64 was released to commercial and critical success, it completely revolutionised and set the standard for 3D Game Design. While it hasn't aged very well in terms of graphics and controls it really was spectacular for it's time and I respect it!

We released the end is nigh almost a year ago totally out of the blue and didnโ€™t do much press for it, mostly because itโ€™s themes were too depressing for me to talk about openly at the time. it was a great purge of emotions and helped me realize what I loved about game design.
